Assistive Technology (AT) is characterized by tools/devices and services. Assistive Technology tools include hardware, software, and/or stand-alone devices with a range from low-tech to high-tech. Assistive Technology services include assessment, assistance with acquisition, maintaining, and training of AT tools for the individual, family, school, and work environments. The goal of AT is to improve or maintain functional capabilities for individuals with disabilities, permitting greater access and opportunity within the academic, work and home environments.
